Author Kati Marton focuses on Sarah Boot, the 25-year-old Queen Mary award-winning novel’s heroine. “The Chancellor” is the second volume in the highly anticipated new mystery set to be released in April.

All-out war in Europe has entrapped Boot and the Queen Mary’s crew for a long, hard time. As tensions continue to build and they fight for their lives, the Queen Mary finds itself in the middle of one of the deadliest chapters in Naval history.

Boot and her men are looking for a safe haven and where to have their lives handed back to them. But as Boot makes a bid for freedom, all is not as it seems.

In just 10 short chapters, Marton works us through her turbulent storyline. Instead of trying to simply tell an action-packed story, she twists and turns the reader’s mind. The end of “The Chancellor” is as gut-wrenching as a stand-up comic’s punch line.

Think about the opening scene when you read the book. It’s impossible to say when the story actually starts.

There’s no way of knowing what we’ve gotten ourselves into, or how Sarah and her crew will manage to get out alive. It’s impossible to guess whether you are going to want to hang on for the ride, or if the heart-pounding ride will leave you thinking about it for days.

Sarah didn’t sign up for this journey. And yet, there’s no other way that she would be in it.

“The Chancellor” is a can’t-put-it-down novel.
