The British-born Jamaican shot to prominence with a fine display for Liverpool in their Europa League semi-final second leg against Atlético Madrid last week. Gordon scored the match winner at Anfield, and was one of three teenagers named in Jürgen Klopp’s squad for the away leg of the final against Atlético Madrid.
Gordon has also caught the eye of his compatriot and former Liverpool forward Emile Heskey, who told the club’s website: “I’ve seen him in training, he’s very promising and he’s got the talent to progress quickly into the first team, I’m sure. He’s so quick, he’s very, very quick.
“When we were with Liverpool you have to remember he was just a 17-year-old boy when we played the last game in the Europa League final. As the years went on, and he’s played in so many games now, he’s still got so much progression ahead of him. It’s all happening very quickly for him, as you would expect from someone who is so quick, he’s got pace to burn.
“I don’t think he’s aware how good he is. The more games he plays, the more he’ll realise how good he is. There’s no doubt he’s got the talent and the ability to do well. I think all those boys at Anfield will be delighted for him.”
