Vaccines are having their day in the sun.
On the FOX Report Weekend, Marie Harf dissected the F.D.A. panel recommending a vaccine for children age 5 to 11.
Appearing at the F.D.A. for this week’s final round of panel meetings, Kyle Van Horn of the American Pregnancy Association weighed in.
Van Horn is a board certified obstetrician/gynecologist and a licensed family practice physician who currently practices in Baltimore, Maryland. A friend of mine suggested that we do this.
The big talk for this year is Vaccines against human papillomavirus (HPV), or sexually transmitted infections and the associated diseases.
The panel continued to agree:
Panelists: We agree that HPV is a major disease, but we need more focus on STDs in general and related disorders.
That focus on improving the understanding of the literature was important to the committee, given the rising number of STDs, particularly linked to a “social culture” that continues to present challenges.
Given it’s an area of serious concern for the committee, panelists are moving ahead with planning a meeting for March 2019, to consider evidence-based medical practices to be taken into account in and focused on adolescent health.
