The men are part of two families that have suffered tragedies on the same street, the Toronto Star reported.

The city has been dealing with an outbreak of violence in recent months that has claimed the lives of 43 people, most of them people of colour.

One of the men who died had five children, and a girlfriend was hospitalized after being shot twice. The other man had five children. “Each and every mother is looking for him,” a grief-stricken friend told the Star.

“It’s just heartbreaking,” a weeping Gervaise Sharples told CTV News. “I don’t know what to do, I can’t go up there, I can’t go up there to bury him.”
