US Football League: Philadelphia Eagles win 45-16 over Dallas Cowboys

Can’t win ’em all? I think we all can relate to that. One such rookie quarterback is the Lions’ Mitchell Trubisky, who broke from his receiving corps (catastrophe that?) and bought some time by running up and down the field. Unfortunately, that time ended with a shotgun snap that bounced off of his head – just about the only funny thing he did last night.

McVay’s not making the same mistake Trevor Siemian’s making

Sam Bradford returned from concussion-like symptoms and led the Eagles to an improbable victory last week. Here’s a QB who couldn’t make a roster in the first place and yet set a franchise record with 41 passes completed. His presence was an absolute asset. He provided balance to the Eagles’ offense and at times, they were able to turn this one into a shootout. Mark Sanchez (an ex-Teddy Throwman) isn’t doing as well, even if he is healthy. Sanchez finished the night 13-of-25 with three touchdowns and an interception. Of course, he was getting his back against the run.

Trevor Siemian only gets four more games to prove his worth

Trevor Siemian continued to provide reason for hope, going 27-of-43 for 242 yards with two touchdowns. But that’s only about half of what the Broncos’ coaching staff expected of him during the preseason. Denver hasn’t put the ball in his hands this season. Instead, Siemian and Mike McCoy have let the second-year signal caller completely hone his abilities as a slot receiver. (In a sense, Siemian is a Travis Benjamin Lite.) Siemian played great in the passing game but cannot keep his team competitive when he takes snaps in the wildcat. The Broncos, who were favored by seven points, lost on Sunday night 38-10. We’ll see if Siemian can win one to make things interesting.
