Editor’s Note — Founded in 1986, Coolbean provides a variety of custom vehicle features, including custom brakes, suspension, and transmission.

Tiny Carrie Youd went to her first off-road race when she was eight years old. Since then, she’s tested out everything from an army tank to a modified Honda urban bike.

“I started racing, and it’s sort of my home,” said Youd, a junior designer at L.A. accessories store Coolbean . “Racing is definitely a source of energy, because for one, I can make my own plans, and I can make them fast. But it’s also an outlet for my frustration, because I like to be on my own.”

After pursuing a collegiate degree in mechanical engineering, Youd decided to join her friends in the Los Angeles Off-Road Racing Team , where she competed in races in Antarctica, the Mojave Desert, and the Ohio/Michigan border, with stints in Canada and Mexico. The bulk of the time spent behind the wheel has been spent on her and her boyfriend’s ATVs.

ATV Adventures interviewed Youd and other drivers who compete in California’s Eastern, Western, and Northern branches of the ATV Country series as part of its All Expenses Paid Girls Trip. The videos can be viewed above on CNN, or here on Coolbean.
